Dawn Taylor
Senior Architect
BA (Hons) Architecture, Dip Arch, ARB
Dawn studied at South Bank Polytechnic and the Polytechnic of Central London (now the University of Westminster) and has over 30 years’ architectural experience across a broad range of sectors and has worked on a number of prestigious schemes across London including Science Museum’s Education Centre and an extension to The Ritz Hotel.
Before joining Ellis Williams in 2018, Dawn was responsible for the design of a number of high-profile, mixed-use regeneration schemes such as Nile Street and Tybalds Estate. She also has extensive experience in conservation architecture, often within sensitive historic contexts or conservation areas, including the major Ram Quarter redevelopment (consisting of 11 individual Grade II* and Grade II former brewery buildings) to create an exciting new residential and retail quarter, combining contemporary living with iconic heritage at the historic Young’s brewery site with high quality workspace, retail units, restaurants, heritage centre, micro-brewery and brewing museum.
As part of the team in our London studio, Dawn has been involved in a range of heritage, education and arts & cultural schemes including the £25.5million transformation of Warwick Arts Centre – realising the expansion and redevelopment in a series of phases while keeping the Arts Centre open throughout. The project included a refurbished 575-seat theatre, studio theatre, rehearsal space, renewal of theatrical installations, 3no. new 210, 135 and 60 seat cinemas, visual arts gallery, expanded foyers and an enhanced retail offer with a new restaurant positioned at the front of the building.
Dawn also has teaching experience at Kingston University where she was a part-time 1st year architecture degree tutor, and has brought her mentoring experience into the studio helping professional development and inputting into design reviews.
