Completed as part of a wider scheme of 10no. modular school extensions / new builds, the project at Lily Lane consisted of a 1-form entry extension to the existing Primary School.
Along with another of our projects, Beaver Road Primary School, Lily Lane was part of the award winning group of projects that formed Manchester City Council’s £35m Education Basic Need (EBN) Programme for 2017/18.
The 2-storey modular extension was constructed from a total of 18 individual units, and includes 4no. classrooms, a new sensory room and small group facilities.
The extension has enabled the school to keep its specialist music, art and ICT facilities whilst adding additional small group space, individual work rooms, office space and store rooms.
Digital construction to BIM Level 2 enabled co-ordination of the design to ensure DfMA was achieved whilst avoiding rework and duplication.
The Contractor’s bespoke Data Capture Process provided automated collection and input of COBie data from the whole supply chain resulting in a fully integrated Asset Information Model which could be easily integrated within the Council’s Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) systems.
“This latest Manchester City Council programme of works targets the rising demand for additional pupil places at primary schools across the region, and this investment will provide high-quality learning facilities to support pupils today and for future generations.”
