The new facilities include an eight lane 25 metre pool and 20 metre teaching pool complete with movable floor and spectator seating in the pool areas. The large fitness suite includes a 120-station gym, exercise studios with flexibility for other use and a dedicated blackout spin studio. Two changing villages are available which include family cubicles, baby change and large team changing areas. There is also a café where people can meet and socialise.

The design is dementia friendly, incorporating wayfinding signage, appropriate lighting levels, and the use of visual contrasting tones to aid users. The orientation of the building has been designed to minimise solar gain and incorporates photovoltaic panels and a CHP boiler.

The brand new Spen Valley Leisure Centre opened its doors to the general public on 28th February 2022.
