Reaseheath College is one of the UK’s leading land-based colleges, offering a range of further education, apprenticeship and degree-level courses. The addition of this 20,000 sq. ft. new-build Agri-tech facility, consisting of a single-storey workshop block and a neighbouring two-storey teaching block, provides the college with improved technological education provision for those looking for an exciting career in land-based industries.
The Centre combines all aspects of agricultural innovation, mechanisation and advanced engineering. In addition to general teaching and office areas, the facility also provides workshop space, specialised facilities for robotics, tractor workshops and showroom, GPS and the most advanced agricultural engineering machines associated with precision farming.
A key area of the brief was to provide industry standard facilities to enable the College’s Agricultural Industry partners to use the building for their own research, for conferences and for industry events. The development has a consistency of character with the existing rural campus buildings but also creates a business-friendly front door to the college. The timber building envelope provides a unifying “cloak” to a range of volumes and types of practical and learning spaces.
The development responds to present governmental policy and ensures that present and future needs of the industry are met through the delivery of outstanding educational facilities
