To avoid the cost of bringing temporary accommodation onto the site during the build, we began with a scheme to develop a standalone block offering two reception classrooms. This building was prefabricated off site and dealt with under a separate planning application. It was delivered in time for the beginning of the school term in September, having been submitted for planning at the end of June.
In the second phase, a new build extension offering 11 classrooms, multi-use hall, catering facilities and office accommodation was constructed, whilst the existing school building continued to function.
After this, the existing Victorian school building was refurbished and remodelled over the summer holiday. The landscaping was the final phase, which included a new school entrance, car park and site security strategy.
