The new building incorporates a variety of teaching facilities, including a multi format Learning Resource Centre, Café and Refectory facilities, a Performance Lecture Theatre and Drama Space, Media Suites, Art Studio and both general and specialist teaching classrooms spread across the three main floors. A fully-glazed, central Atrium offers vertical circulation space connecting all levels and provides an additional Social Area at ground level which opens out onto the new external entrance plaza. With the large expanses of solar controlled glazing, the building is naturally lit and various other sustainability and energy saving measures were incorporated in the design to assist in achieving a BREEAM Very Good rating.
