We are delighted to see our design for Willow Tree Hub at Warrington Hospital submitted for planning, especially after receiving heartwarming feedback from the Trust on our design for this crucial and compassionate project.
Willow Tree Hub will provide a separate calm and private space on the grounds of Warrington Hospital adjacent to the Maternity Department. The hub will provide a tranquil and peaceful space for those experiencing baby loss or recovering from a traumatic birth. Both of which are made even more difficult and overwhelming in a busy hospital setting.
The need for this dedicated space ensures families can receive sensitive information and follow up support in a calm, private and appropriate environment. Using a separate area helps avoid unnecessary distress and provides a setting that is better suited to difficult conversations, ongoing care and emotional support.
The hub will also become home to a specialist Rainbow Clinic, offering extra care services for families navigating a pregnancy after loss. After previously experiencing stillbirth or neonatal loss patients often face increased anxiety and fear. The Rainbow Clinic will provide specialist monitoring and emotional support caring for these families every step of the way.
The hub has been designed to create a welcoming, tranquil and insulated environment. The inside, a comfortable space for bereavement counselling and support sessions, the exterior landscaping is a serene garden of wildflowers, seating and solar lighting offering a secluded space for grief and remembrance.
Willow Tree Hub has been named to symbolise resilience, mourning and the enduring strength of love and family during life’s most difficult moments.
