Strong progress has occurred at the Peace Centre in Warrington where the transformation of this community landmark into a specialist SEND college continues to take shape.
The £11 million refurbishment and extension project will deliver approx. 2,800m2 of learning and support space for students with complex Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Orchestrating the wider project team along side our client Warrington Borough Council and construction partner Read Construction, we have helped to shape a modern and inclusive educational environment that meets the needs of future learners while providing a new lease of life to a building with important local heritage and history.
Updates from Read construction highlight substantial progress in the development. M&E first-fix works near completion with second-fix underway, Read also report that external cladding is also nearing completion.
The completed project will become the new home of RISE college, a specialist in post-16 education supporting young people with complex SEND requirements. The scheme represents a significant investment in local SEND provision across Warrington.
By repurposing and extending the existing Peace Centre, the development balances the preservation of a building with important community significance with the creation of a best-in-class education facility. Our design prioritises accessibility, inclusion and wellbeing. Providing flexible learning environments and specialist support spaces, enabling the students to thrive educationally and socially.
