First Tree Planted at Liverpool Royal Biodiversity Park

Key partners including Ellis Williams, BAM UK & Ireland, the Eden Project and NHS UHLG joined the consultant team to mark the next stage in creating a landmark green space for Liverpool.

Date

The Biodiversity Park forms an important component of the wider Health Innovation Liverpool Masterplan, which seeks to create a thriving health, innovation and life sciences campus around the Royal Liverpool site. Delivering masterplanning for the project, Ellis Williams has helped shape a long-term vision that integrates world-class healthcare, research, education and public realm, creating a destination that benefits both the city and its communities.

Once complete, the new park will transform the former hospital site into an accessible, nature-rich landscape featuring 163 trees, native wildflower meadows, wildlife habitats, sustainable drainage features and spaces designed to support wellbeing, relaxation and recreation. The park will provide a valuable green asset for patients, staff, visitors and local residents while enhancing biodiversity within Liverpool city centre.

Liverpool’s newest urban park is the first of its kind aiming to directly link and promote the importance of nature and its ecosystems in improving health and wellbeing outcomes for the local community. Working collaboratively with UHLG, BAM, Eden Project and BCA Landscape we are delivering quality, biodiversity rich greenspace, and sustainable infrastructure from the outset as the focal point of the emerging Royal Campus Masterplan.
