Applebee Wood Steel Signing

Applebee Wood School Breaks Ground as Steel Signing Marks the Start of Construction

Stakeholders including students and staff, representatives of The Sea View Trust and the Department for Education (DfE) gathered at the site for the soon to be new purpose built special educational school to mark the commencement of construction.

Date

As part of the DfE’s School Rebuilding Programme and working closely with construction partner Tilbury Douglas the design for the new two-storey facility will be a purpose-built learning environment to cater for the diverse needs of Applebee Wood’s students. The design features three distinct wings centred around a core administration and therapy hub with significant outdoor provisions including a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), playing pitch, all-weather track, forest school habitat and vegetable allotment supporting outdoor education.

This scheme follows Applebee Wood School’s recent integration into The Sea View Trust Multi Academy Trust. The project represents a substantial investment designed to replace existing facilities with a modern, purpose-built environment for up to 168 students and staff.

John Cockerill, Headteacher Applebee Wood

Today marks an exciting milestone in our school’s journey as our children and staff took part in the steel signing for our new building. It was a wonderful moment of pride and anticipation, giving everyone the chance to leave their mark, quite literally, on the future of our school. Seeing the structure take shape before our eyes has brought a real sense of excitement and possibility to our community.

We are absolutely thrilled to officially welcome Applebee Wood School into The Sea View Trust family. Today’s groundbreaking is symbolic not just of new foundations for a building, but of the strong foundations we are building together for the future of our learners. This significant investment will provide the world-class, modern environment that our staff and pupils truly deserve.
