The newly approved scheme, adjacent to The Telford Langley School, will develop a modern, inclusive, and highly sustainable leisure centre. Designs for the centre include a 25‑metre, five‑lane swimming pool with full retractable floor and accessible pool pod lift, first‑floor fitness suite, generous activity studio, family changing and ancillary staff spaces.
The leisure centre will also enhance existing sport amenities on the wider school site, including resurfacing of existing regional level play netball courts, improvements to orientation, drainage and reseeding of all grass sports pitches serving school and local community sports clubs.
A key element of the scheme is its dual community and school model. Under the approved plans, Telford Langley School will use the leisure centre during school hours, while the wider community will benefit from evening and weekend access, ensuring the new facility delivers year‑round value for local people.
The centre will celebrate the area’s heritage and commemorate Dawley resident Captain Matthew Webb, who became the first person to swim the English Channel unaided in 1875.
Securing planning permission marks an exciting milestone for the project. We have worked collaboratively with Telford & Wrekin Council, the school, Sport England and wider community stakeholders to shape a design that is future‑focused, accessible, and addresses the needs of the local community. The approved centre supports the council’s commitment to expanding high‑quality leisure access across the borough encouraging healthy lifestyles.
We now look forward to progressing the project into the next stage of delivery and ultimately helping to bring this community asset to life.
