
Part of a wider long-term housing programme, Ellis Williams Architects was commissioned by Wrexham County Borough Council to lead, design and manage the remodelling and refurbishment of two sheltered housing schemes at Llys y Mynydd, Rhos and Tir y Capel, Llay and complementary new build apartments to the rear of the existing scheme at Llay. The remodel and refurbishment projects form part of a wider long term Sheltered Housing programme for Wrexham County Borough Council helping older people remain independent in their own home for longer.
The projects involve the remodelling and refurbishment of two sheltered housing schemes to provided assisted living apartments at Llys y Mynydd, Rhos and Tir y Capel, Llay, designed to be ‘care ready’ with the latest technology improving health and wellbeing.
With almost £17million set to be invested across the housing programme these projects are the first forming part of this wider long-term programme. The council aims to help older people remain independent in their own home for longer by investing in the upgrades.
