This project for Kirklees Council will replace an existing local authority swimming pool on the same site dating from 1968 with a new pool and fitness centre and will be the focus of indoor sport and physical activity development in the local area, catering for the sport and physical activity needs and demands of a diverse community with a range of interests.
The new facilities include an eight lane short course competition pool, teaching pool complete with movable floor, 120-station gym, exercise studios and spin studio. Associated accommodation includes a changing village with the facility to provide single gender-only bathing sessions.
The proposed new all-purpose facility reflects the desire to bring the leisure offer on the site up to current standards in a building of high quality, and to bring swimming and fitness under the one roof.
