Park Royal Community School

Within this oversubscribed, two form entry school, there was a desperate need for outmoded freestanding buildings to be removed at the boundaries of the present school campus in order to create a unified Early Years Centre (2-5yr olds). This has been achieved by integrating the Pre-School Nursery and Early Years classrooms into one new build, which in turn fully and securely links into the main School building.

The theme of the project is, “Knowing, Growing, Caring, Sharing”. The School needs purpose designed teaching spaces, rather than past textiles building and prefab block, to continue The School development plan of offering wider learning opportunities on a tightly planned Town Centre campus, for the enrichment of social and emotional support, oracy (speech and language), literacy and numeracy skills.

Funded by the Department for Education ‘Condition Improvement Fund (CIF), to which we contributed the Feasibility Study, a condition of the CIF was that the budget was to be spent within twelve months. This major project was therefore delivered within a deadline whilst working in and around an occupied school.
