School Work Experience

Ellis Williams is committed to providing opportunities to young people and to targeting local people and schools nationally; our work experience programme ensures our students get the most from their placement. We have we have developed a ‘real’ architectural brief which enables students to get a feel for the role of an architect, supplemented by site visits and often observing meetings.  The experience ends with a presentation of the proposals from the student to members of our team. Our programme has been applauded by a number of schools for our commitment and support.

Student Engagement Programmes – Vision Hope School Parabongo Challenge

In February 2016 we provided professional time to St Ambrose Barlow school to help to build an eco-school through Class of Your Own, a nationwide competition for schools to design an eco-school in Uganda – the winning design to be built.

We contributed professional time and support to work with the year 11 students through a series of workshops throughout the duration of the project, providing assistance with coordinating their design and 3D models. This support enabled the students work to be realised in photo real CGI renders and 3D printing to enhance the design submission.

St Ambrose Barlow School won a similar design competition in 2015 which proved to be quite a life changing event for many of the students involved who have since gone on to pursue a career in Digital Engineering and other construction related careers.

2016’s team consisted of 8 pupils all were extremely self-motivated and enthusiastic and recognised the good cause for this competition.
