Wythenshawe Forum is a large community and lifestyle centre adjacent to the main shopping area. It was built approximately 30 years ago. All the accommodation is positioned around a central circulation and meeting space. The whole site has been remodelled and refurbished to improve the facilities and access for the community.
An existing restaurant forms a new café bar and a remodelled concourse has robust floor and wall finishes with a new reception area. The childcare zone is a new build extension linked to the concourse.The learning zone is housed in the former fly tower and auditorium.The existing library is refurbished and linked to the learning zone. At first floor level there is a video library reference area and IT suite.The leisure zone includes the refurbished hall with a new theatre bar and the existing pool has been re-tiled with remodelled changing areas and includes a new fitness and health suite.

After graduating at Liverpool University School of Architecture, Alan joined EllisWilliams Architects as a project architect working on education, community housing and commercial projects. Promoted to associate in 1980, he became a partner in 1992 and then a director when the practice incorporated in 1999.
He has particular expertise in large complex phased redevelopment projects involving multiple stakeholders, the success of which depends on consultation and constructive collaboration with all parties and effective management of the briefing stage, the design process and information production.

Rob has worked on a number of Traditional, Design + Build and Partnering projects within the Education, Community, Sport and Leisure sectors. He has been responsible for the practice CPD since 2001; a vehicle to explore interests in sustainable design and keeping up to date with technical and legislative developments. Rob recently qualified as a Certified European Passivhaus Consultant and is the company Sustainability Champion.
Since being promoted to associate in 2005, Rob has been leading teams working on new Manchester Schools, both PFI procurement and under a framework BSF programme.
