Loreto High School is a 750 place 11 to 16 Roman Catholic School. The project involved stripping an existing 1960’s 3 storey block back to the concrete frame. The addition of a new skin of curtain walling / rainscreen cladding has given a transformational image to the school and has enclosed the building with a new and highly energy efficient external fabric. This approach allowed for the total reformation of the internal environment. Further work included a new lift and upgrade of the existing lift to improve circulation between floors, and enhanced hard and soft landscaping to support the main key objectives and to provide a stimulating and safe outdoor environment for the pupils. The funding for the scheme was from the Manchester BSF Programme.
