eBay commissioned EllisWilliams to interior design, refurbish and remodel a number of new flagship headquarters for its European commercial operations. The projects included the interior design of offices in Berne, Switzerland and in the Dreilinden area of Berlin, Germany.
The eBay brief was to design playful, contemporary, open plan workspaces for its employees with high workstation densities supported by informal and formal meeting spaces.
Each project considered and tested the eBay brand and ethos within the design concepts and responded to the brief by integrating social, leisure and work zones, where possible introducing outside dining spaces and activity / gym zones.
Use of colour, introduction of natural light, via polygonal custom-made glass walls and luminous ceilings, were used to offer a feeling of clear height to the existing building spaces.

As a member of the Architektenkammer Berlin and with 20 years experience in architecture, Dieter ran his own small multi-disciplinary practice in Berlin prior to joining EllisWilliams Architects. As well as overall responsibility for management of the Berlin office he also has a vital role in supporting our existing key development clients who, taking advantage of a changing political climate, wished to explore investment opportunities in Germany.
Dieter's design expertise lies in the retail, residential and entertainment sectors with particular emphasis on refurbishment and interior design. In 2006 he was appointed a director of the company and whilst his principle role is the management and marketing of the local office he has also been charged with the strategic task of expanding our operations in Germany and Eastern Europe and in particular in the Republic of Georgia where we have already established valuable and influential client contacts.
