The brief called for an architectural solution to redefine the perception of the college's identity by providing a new signature campus to attract students and significantly raise the profile of the college. The building is a gateway to the new Tees Valley Central Park Regeneration Area.

The design solution resulted in a series of interlinked departments generating radially from a central ‘ hub’ supported by linear three storey departments along a north / south axis. This arrangement created sheltered usable internal space acting as an acoustic buffer to the adjacent railway.

Our experience of space planning enabled the team to produce a design that satisfied the curriculum model, the brief and overcome the demands of a difficult site.

The college offers vocational courses in media–graphics, catering, hair & beauty, engineering, construction, motor vehicle engineering and sports science -  these courses work in conjunction with the 6th form college and the HE centre.
