Robert joined Ellis Williams in 1999 and has over 25 years chartered experience, during which time he has developed an extensive portfolio of award-winning Sport & Leisure schemes. His projects have won both RIBA and Civic Trust awards, with several being identified as “exemplar” schemes by Sport England, including the multi award-winning Ellesmere Port Sports Village and Northwich Memorial Court – which won two UK Pool & Spa Awards for ‘Outstanding Swimming Pool Design’ and ‘Water Leisure Venue of the Year’.
He is also a highly experienced Sport England Technical Advisor and has worked with many specialist leisure providers, developing a wealth of technical knowledge and expertise in relation to sports facility design and product innovations.
His experience also includes a wide range of education projects, ranging from school remodelling and refurbishment schemes all the way through to campus masterplans and major new-build education campuses, with projects including Barrow Hall Sixth Form College and Gorton Education Village.
Robert is passionate about sustainable design and has been the Practice’s Passivhaus and Sustainability Lead for over 15 years, becoming a Certified Passivhaus Designer in 2011 (Passivhaus Institut, Germany). He has also been responsible for our Practice-wide CPD programme since 2001.
