Nikki Hills

Landscape Architect

BA, Dip LA, MBA, Tech Cert (ArborA), CMLI

Nikki started her career in the Midlands as a Landscape Architect with Birmingham City Council, before moving to Wolverhampton City Council where she became Manager of the Landscape & Ecology Team. Since joining Ellis Williams as a Principal Landscape Architect and Sector Lead for Landscape Design, she has been responsible for the design of external spaces both hard and soft: either working with our Architects in association with their projects or independently on stand-alone landscape schemes.

As a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI) with over 30 years’ experience, Nikki has undertaken a diverse range of projects that include urban parks, public realm and urban regeneration schemes, schools and educational establishments, historic park restorations, housing, highway landscaping, sports grounds, public art commissioning and leisure facilities. She has a real passion for the external environment (both natural and built) and a particular interest in introducing ecological biodiversity into projects and working with clients to help realize the full landscape potential of a site. Nikki believes one of the most important aspects of landscape design is its influence on quality of life and social interaction and she integrates this ethos into her work.

She has a particular interest in Historic Park and Garden restorations and has been lucky enough to work on several over the years including the multi-million pound, lottery funded West Park Historic Restoration in Wolverhampton.

Nikki also has particular expertise in trees and holds a Tech Cert in Arboriculture – qualifying her to undertake the assessment and preparation of tree survey reports and drawings, plus woodland surveys and the production of woodland management plans. She is also a Green Flag Award Judge, responsible for assessing applicants against Green Flag Award criteria and raising the standard of parks and green spaces across the UK.
