Accommodating 600 pupils aged 14-19, the college specialises in advanced engineering, forensic, biomedical and nuclear science. The new building includes engineering workshops with specialist equipment, science laboratories, specialist teaching classrooms, a learning resource centre, a performance lecture theatre, media suites, art studio and general teaching space, learning resource centre, breakout space, cafe and refectory facilities.

The UTC follows the adjacent Incubator Building as one of the first buildings to be realised within the Stadium Quarter Masterplan. The site constraints were demanding, with limited available construction space – requiring an imaginative and well-ordered response in order to ensure an efficient, high quality design solution.
