Our team worked closely with the Academy to develop a design that not only embodied their inspirational educational thinking but was also capable of delivering a modern and flexible curriculum model to 1,050 11-16 year old pupils.

The internal spaces have been designed to provide state-of-the-art flexible teaching environments, including a 120 place interactive theatre equipped with sophisticated multi-media technology. Many resources within the school are also available for local community use, such as the sports facilities and flexible theatre space – providing opportunities for adult learning and for improving health and wellbeing.

The design incorporates a predominantly modular building system, with hybrid approaches to the main hall, sports hall and dining hall where traditional steel frames are used and, in some cases, support third floor modules above. The school is designed to BREEAM Very Good.

The project team worked hard to ensure that the building was designed and coordinated to the highest possible quality, taking all the potential ‘off-site’ benefits to deliver a fully compliant product, on time and within budget.
