Cornerstone Arts Centre, Didcot

Didcot Arts Centre exterior

Cornerstone was conceived by South Oxfordshire District Council as a community arts and entertainment facility, offering the public an open and welcoming local facility in the heart of their town centre.

The 2,200sqm venue includes a 260-seat multi-purpose auditorium, dance studio visual art exhibition space, café/bar and education rooms.  We collaborated with artists Jacqui Poncelet and Richard Layzell to design elements including bespoke aluminium cladding and visual art display integrated into the facades.

The arts centre lies at the heart of the ambitious redevelopment of Didcot town centre, masterplanned and promoted by South Oxfordshire District Council  and includes a major new outdoor shopping mall, new cinema and restaurants and with the arts centre forming a civic heart for Didcot addressing the new town square.

“The council is delighted with this landmark building, which forms a key element of the cultural heart of Didcot’s town centre redevelopment scheme.”
