Sharif Mousawi

Senior Architect

BA (Hons) BArch ARB

Sharif joined Ellis Williams in 2004, prior to this he worked for a small architectural practice specialising in the healthcare sector. He is now a Senior Architect based in our Manchester Studio and specialises in the design and delivery of sports & leisure facilities with schemes ranging from sports pavilions, watersports hubs and recreation centre extensions to major new build leisure centres and specialist sports facilities for cycling, sailing and basketball.

His projects include 4no. major new leisure centres within the last 5 years – IB Leisure in Stockton-on-Tees, Spen Valley Leisure Centre in Kirklees, Halton Leisure Centre in Widnes and Abraham Moss Library & Leisure Centre in Manchester.

Sharif is passionate about sustainability and he is currently working on a major £21million remodelling, refurbishment and modernisation of the National Cycling Centre in Manchester, providing upgrades to spectator facilities as well as the track and central sports court area whilst replacing the old building services with new systems that are optimised for energy performance and carbon reduction – helping to meet Manchester City Council’s aspirations to be net zero by 2038.

In addition to his work in the sports & leisure sector, Sharif also has extensive experience in the design of education facilities, including Newcastle High School for Girls, Barrow Hall Primary School and Eden Boys & Girls Leadership Academies in Manchester. His wider experience also includes major arts & cultural facilities such as the Brindley Theatre in Runcorn and a range of other commercial, residential and community projects.
