Hayley studied in France at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Bretagne (ENSAB) before completing her qualifications at Birmingham City University and becoming a UK registered architect. Prior to first joining Ellis Williams in 2002, Hayley was a key team member at a number of major architectural practices in Liverpool, Birmingham and the Wirral.

With over 22 years’ experience, she has gained a broad range of experience within a variety of sectors, developing strong working relationships with clients and design teams to deliver successful projects. Hayley also has extensive experience of working within existing buildings on tight urban sites, including heritage buildings within conservation areas. She therefore has experience of obtaining planning approvals on a range of complex projects across the UK.

Hayley particularly enjoys the site-specific delivery aspects of her role and really enjoys the challenges and rewards of designing and delivering complex refurbishment projects, such as the recent major remodelling and refurbishment of St Anne Street Police Station for Merseyside Police.

She has also worked on a number of award-winning schemes, such as the Newcastle High School for Girls development – a complex scheme that brought together two existing independent girls day schools with various sites across the Brandling Village Conservation Area in Jesmond (Newcastle) to create a vibrant, cohesive new school. The final scheme included the total restoration, refurbishment and extension of the school’s iconic existing Victorian building at the Church High and a new-build, 3-storey building to provide a state-of-the-art , flexible teaching and learning facilities. The scheme received a Lord Mayor’s Special Award and received high praise from English Heritage and Newcastle Conservation Advisory Panel.
