Chris is an experienced RIBA Conservation Architect with specialist skills in relation to the design of sympathetic solutions to redevelop and regenerate historic buildings. He has been involved in a number of award-winning restoration, refurbishment and extension schemes and has worked with a wide range of clients and stakeholder groups on listed building redevelopment schemes in close consultation with Historic England and CADW.
His work has seen him undertake consultancy and design work on a wide variety of Grade I, Grade II* and Grade II Listed building projects across the UK, including within Conservation Areas and World Heritage Sites. Chris’s knowledge and experience has helped us to re-imagine and rejuvenate a range of theatres, town halls, public libraries, art galleries, warehouses and mills, school buildings, churches and cathedrals, market halls, pumphouses, water towers and art-deco cinemas – designing and delivering a multitude of award-winning schemes.
His work includes the multi-award winning Storyhouse (Chester) which won both regional and national RIBA Awards in 2018 as well as a Historic England Award for Best Major Regeneration of a Historic Building and a Civic Trust Special Award for Community Impact & Engagement. He has also acted as Conservation Architect on the major restoration and refurbishment of ODEON Leicester Square (London), the regeneration of Newport Market and a major redevelopment of Oldham’s Grade II Listed former public library to create a sustainable new civic, community and cultural facility.
