Northampton Cathedral Centre has won planning approval!
The Cathedral currently has no facilities to provide accommodation and refreshments for either Diocesan or parish events which seriously impairs its ability to serving the community. The new proposed Cathedral Centre provides flexible spaces, which can be used for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and events along with office space for administration and associated ancillary spaces.
The proposals consist of two interconnected elements, a new building and the existing garage fully refurbished. The new building is designed as subservient to the Cathedral house, sits behind the existing garage and frames the garden with minimal impact. The existing garage, presents different states of disrepair, is not fully accessible and is disjointed from the other buildings on the site. The proposal is for full refurbishment and integration while conserving its original vernacular appearance.
